Foundation for Winona Area Public Schools Lowell Nelson

One of the Foundation’s top priorities is endowment growth. For that reason, the 1997-1998 Board of Directors established a planned giving program called the Lowell Nelson Society, named for the man who provided distinguished service and leadership as the District’s Superintendent from 1959 until he retired in 1973. Everyone who values excellent public school education is urged to consider membership in the society. Members generously perpetuate their support of public education in Winona beyond their lifetimes.

Membership is accorded to those who leave a legacy to the Foundation by naming it as a beneficiary in their wills or other estate plans, insurance policies, qualified pension plans, or through charitable trusts, bargain sales, or other charitable arrangements. Appreciated assets generally provide the best opportunities for high-value, low-cost charitable planned gifts. The Foundation urges donors to consult with their financial advisors when considering a planned gift.
